Information and Statutes

The initial contact with Uganda was set up in 1992 and has been continued intensively ever since. In 2000, this group of dedicated people decided to establish a non-profit association called “Ugandakreis Heiligenstadt e.V.”. Under the motto "Helping people to help themselves", we pursue the goal of planning
and promoting sustainable development together with the people in Lwamaggwa, a small community in Uganda. The focus of our work is on infrastructure and education projects as well as health development. Our association is supported locally by professional partners, such as the Caritas organization MADDO. Furthermore, many intensive cross-border friendships contribute to the success of our association. Our association is based on Christian values. It is independent and organizationally
autonomous. The “Ugandakreis Heiligenstadt e.V.” currently has 127 members and is led by the board.

Projekt groups

Team Sponsorships

We are responsible for the sponsors’ database as well as the sponsored students and trainees. We document and manage the utilization of funds and are in direct contact with funded schools and project partners.

Team Project Work

We supervise our development projects. This includes the active exchange with the project partners on site, the examination of potential funding opportunities and the constant evaluation of existing projects.

Team Finance

We keep an eye on the documentation of project tasks, as well as the economic and liquidity plan. We prepare draft resolutions and jointly develop ideas for fundraising in Germany. Together with our partners in Uganda, we are working towards the big goal of joint financial planning.

Team Media

We are responsible for the content on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and the website. We make sure that we reach as many interested parties and members as possible. We work bilingually so that our friends and partners in Uganda are always up to date.

Team Participation

We are working to ensure that our Ugandan partners can participate in project planning and design. They are the specialists for the social situation, culture, as well as living and environmental conditions on site. For this reason, there are to be more locals directly involved in the future and, for example, be represented on the Executive Board.

Team Association Work

We take care of the recruitment of members and the planning and coordination of events that the “Ugandakreis” hosts. With events, such as the association's 50th anniversary in 2022, we want to create visibility, attract new members and involve them in the association's activities.

Six project groups are working to further improve the organization and collaboration with our Ugandan partners.
